For the longest time now I have toyed with the Idea of supercharging the Z. So in
early 2007 I started researching and learning as much as I could. What I ended up
with was:
Five hundred and sixteen cubic inches of Big Block Chevy. Based on the GEN VI 502
block. Eight and a half to one compression, and Dart CNC 335 heads from
Reher-Morrison. The camshaft is a solid lift .660 lift Comp Cams grind. The blower
is a Teflon striped regular Helix SSI 14-71. I use electronic fuel injection that is
controlled through a Electromotive Tec3r total engine control system that is set up to
run on pump gas with a boost at around 9-10 lbs, or I can also run E-85 , and have
had the boost pressure in the 18-20 lb range at aprox. 7500 RPM'S. I guess you
could say I have a Flex-Fuel vehicle. Believe it or not the car weighs just over 3000
lbs. 3025 to be exact. That is with no driver. The blower, Gear Vendor over drive, extra
battery, and new radiator added up!
Current Stats
This project began in March 2007.
Contemplation had been lingering for some time before. I started doing
research to try and find a combination that would render the best results for
how I wanted to use the car. My goal was and is to have a very street able
combination running on pump gas. Have it run cool in traffic, be easy on parts,
and run in the 8.90 range in street trim. It has been a very good learning
experience to say the least.
