From about 1992 the Z has had several different engine and transmission combinations. After the
427 wore out its welcome I was looking to go larger cubic inches. I ordered the rotating
components to build a Four hundred and ninety six cubic inch motor and acquired a set of cast iron
Dart Merlin heads. This with the change to the power glide, and Methanol got the car to run 9.70's. I
started out with an EVM, Changed to a Hat injector on a tunnel ram, and even had an eight port fuel
injection on for some time. I went back an forth from dual four carbs, single dominator, injection,
like I was changing my shirts. Here are a few pics of all the different combos I tried over the years.
Oh Yeah.. I even had a T-56 Six speed in it for a while.
