The rest of the story - Part 1
As I mentioned. I had been pondering this for some time. I contacted a few of the well known
Supercharger Manufacturers/Dealers, and was getting a little discouraged. It was almost like
a few of them just did not have time for the little guy. A few that did were not able to put the
Blower and EFI package together as I desired, so I was left with purchasing from different
sources and sorting it out myself. I was reading everything I could find to read, to help me
make the right decisions. Then one day I was cruising the Racing Junk website and there it
was. The exact combo I was searching for. The only thing was, the intake would not work for
me. It was for a different configuration head that I am using. After talking with the owner we
came up with a deal and had it shipped my direction. Once everything arrived I started
assessing what was there and what I needed to get this deal moving forward. I made a few ill
attempts at trying to figure a way to install the bottom 8 of 16 injectors in the intake runners of a
low out of the box blower intake. But to no avail. I finally came to the realization I was going to
either have to pay some one to build a high dollar sheet metal intake, eliminate the bottom
injectors and just run 8 under the Hat injector, or build my own.
These are a few pictures of how the car was
set up before starting the blower project.
502 Cubic inches, .710 roller camshaft, The
same Dart heads, and a power glide
transmission but, Just before I took the car
apart I had installed a Gear Vendor overdrive
unit behind the trans for better hi-way driving.
I had cut the pistons down from 14 to 1
compression to 10-1 a year or so before, to
be able to run pump gas. The quickest the
car went like this was 9.50's with the exhaust
open and Slicks on.
